(January 8, 2015) View our new Tailboard Safety Tip addressing Developing and advocating a safety culture. Have a discussion about your department’s safety and risk management processes and when you're done, keep the conversation going on Twitter by using #TailboardSafety.
The first of the 16 National Fallen Firefighter Foundation Life Safety Initiatives states: Define and advocate the need for a cultural change within the fire service relating to safety; incorporating leadership, management, supervision, accountability and personal responsibility.
Discuss the following:
- Is your department leadership advocating safe operations?
- If yes, discuss if you are achieving the goal.
- If not, discuss how the process can be improved.
