The fifth of the 16 National Fallen Firefighter Foundation Life Safety Initiatives states: Develop and implement national standards for training, qualifications and certification (including regular recertification) that are equally applicable to all firefighters based on the duties they are expected to perform.
Discuss the following:
- Does your department have qualifications, training, and certifications in place for your personnel?
- If yes, describe the value and of the process and any barriers that exist to the process.
- If no, discuss the value of having qualifications, training, and certifications in place and how to get the process started.
