Congressional Fire Services Institute

CFSI was established in 1989 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization. CFSI is designed to educate members of Congress on issues that make a difference for the emergency services. CFSI is a proven source for accurate and objective information on fire service issues.

International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC)

The mission of the IAFC is to provide leadership to career and volunteer chiefs, chief fire officers and managers of Emergency Services Organizations throughout the international community through vision, information, education, services and representation to enhance their professionalism and capabilities.

 

International Association of Fire Chiefs Foundation (IAFCF)

The IAFCF was chartered as a non-profit organization in the District of Columbia in 1974. Organized by the IAFC, its primary purpose is to promote higher education and research in the fire sciences and to provide this information to the fire service community.

International Association of Firefighters

Founded in 1918 to organize firefighters, the IAFF has more than 225,000 professional firefighters and emergency medical personnel members in the U.S. and Canada. The IAFF is an affiliate of the AFL-CIO and Canadian Labour Congress.

National Benefit Summit Forum

The National Benefit Summit is an annual meeting which provides a forum to discuss and compare benefits for (primarily volunteer) Emergency Service Organizations from across the U.S. Held in a different location each year, representatives from each state association are invited to attend and share their benefits, concerns and ideas. Further, each forum provides a specific theme or concentration.

National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)

The NFPA was organized in 1896 to reduce the burden of fire on the quality of life by advocating scientifically-based consensus codes and standards, research, and education for fire and related safety issues. The site contains information about NFPA departments, publications, seminars and educational programs.

National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC)

The NVFC is a nonprofit membership association representing the interests of the volunteer fire, EMS, and rescue services. Organized in 1976, the NVFC is the fire service's representative, not only in the national policy arena, but also on numerous national and international committees and organizations. The site contains information on the volunteer fire service and information regarding membership, training, legislation and organizational activities.

 

United States Fire Administration (USFA)

As an entity of the Department of Homeland Security, the mission of the USFA is to reduce life and economic losses due to fire and related emergencies, through leadership, advocacy, coordination, and support. We serve the Nation independently, in coordination with other Federal agencies, and in partnership with fire protection and emergency service communities. With a commitment to excellence, we provide public education, training, technology and data initiatives.


Fire Department Safety Officers Association

FDSOA was established in 1989 as a nonprofit association, incorporated in Massachusetts. Its mission is to promote safety standards and practices in the fire, rescue, and emergency services community.

Fire Service Resource Network

The Fire Service Resources Network provides accurate, complete and time tested information designed to facilitate safety, promote administrative efficiency and instill the concepts of team work throughout the fire service.

   
   

National Fallen Firefighters Foundation

Congress created the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation in 1992 to honor America's falled fire service heroes and to remember their families.

Public Safety Officers' Benefits (PSOB) Program

Enacted in 1976, the PSOB Program provides benefits including death, education assistance, and disability to those eligible for the program. The PSOB Office at the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs’ Bureau of Justice Assistance is responsible for implementing the PSOB Program. Under the PSOB Act, benefits are available to the survivors of public safety officers found to have died as the direct and proximate result of a personal injury sustained in the line of duty. The PSOB Program also provides disability benefits for public safety officers who have been permanently and totally disabled by a catastrophic personal injury sustained in the line of duty if that injury permanently prevents the officer from performing any substantial and gainful work.

 

Yvoraa Leadership Development Foundation

Yvorra Leadership Development (YLD) is a non-profit private foundation designed to promote leadership development among members of the fire and emergency medical service communities. The Foundation was created to continue the efforts of James G. Yvorra who dedicated his life's work to the fire and emergency medical services.

Created as a Committee of the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association (PA), the Institute serves as an informal advisory panel of public safety leaders committed to reducing deaths and injuries to America's Emergency Responders. Members of the Institute, all highly influential and expert in their fields, are personally dedicated to the safety of the men and women who respond to emergencies on or along our nations streets, roads and highways. Members of the Institute include trainers, writers, managers, government officials, technical experts and leaders who through their individual efforts and collective influence in the public safety world can bring meaningful change.

The mission of the IAFC Volunteer & Combination Officers Section is to provide Chief Officers who manage volunteers within the Fire/Rescue/EMS delivery system with information, education, services, and representation to enhance their professionalism and capabilities.

National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT)

The mission of the NAEMT is to represent and serve Emergency Medical Services personnel through advocacy, educational programs and research.

EMS Event Notification Tool – E.V.E.N.T.

NAEMT, in collaboration with the Center for Leadership, Innovation and Research in EMS, developed an anonymous system for EMS practitioners to report near-miss, line of duty death and patient safety incidents by answering a series of questions in an online format. The EMS Voluntary Event Notification Tool (E.V.E.N.T.) is a tool designed to improve the safety, quality and consistent delivery of EMS.
